Divorce

From the future of your children to your own financial interests, there are a lot of factors to consider in your divorce settlement. We will help you reach a resolution that protects your rights, while maintaining your values.

  • Child Custody and Visitation
  • Spousal Support and Alimony
  • Child Support
  • Property Division

Washington State is a community property state, and that means that all assets and debt acquired during the marriage are subject to division by the court. In most cases, community property is divided equitably which may not mean (50/50).

Modifications

Divorce settlement plans do not always work in the way they were originally intended. If there has been a major change in your life or the life of your former spouse, you can seek a modification to your child support, child custody, or visitation.
Child Support can be modified every two years. If your spouse if seeking a modification, even if an attorney can save or get you $100 a month over the course of years, it could amount to thousands of dollars.

I agree sell and move into something you

Can afford.
Did you say he pays all your house payments and you have $1,070 for everything else?
Do you have insurance? High medical bills? What are your expenses besides medical, utilities, insurance, gas, and food?
I assume you are on disability by the conditions you have described. Sorry that I don't know any lawyers in Orange County as I am in Oregon.
I would definitely get a divorce lawyer so you can know what to do if it goes that way.

Just the Facts

I did go in with the idea of settling. I always wanted the divorce amicable. I still do. I didn't know that temporary agreements were an option.
I'm actually in Orange County. I researched a couple of lawyers and this was the usual requested retainer fee. Maybe I needed to do more research?
Negotiations haven't broken down. They are just slow. I've been supporting the children alone and trying to get my lawyer to rush things so that I can get some financial help.
If I don't litigate I may be paying thousands to the lawyer. last month my husband wanted to add holiday time with the children
